In this increasingly modernizing world, “NETWORKING” is the fast evolving power word. It drives people to meet, interact and exchange ideas, experiences and emotions. Belgaum Pages implements the concept of local networking for the people of Belgaum. We aim to increase the online presence of Belgaumites with this portal offering "Free Websites". This is a small step from dotCORD IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd Belgaum for building “Brand Belgaum“. Belgaum Pages is built upon the popular WordPress platform and hosted with eth1 Network Solutions, Belgaum. Let us give you an overview of the components of BelgaumPages:
Building a site is pretty easy with BelgaumPages, as simple as signing up for an email id. You will get an free subdomain like http://example.belgaumpages.com with 100Mb free webspace. Making your site look great with 100’s of themes to choose from. It would hardly take 5 minutes to have a website of your own but well it will need time for you to write something into it, BelgaumPages won’t do it for you.
A profile is nothing but a collection of personal data associated with the user. User’s profile represents his identity on BelgaumPages. The user can also upload his own profile picture. All the activities around BelgaumPages will be associated with the users profile.
BelgaumPages private messaging works like internal site email. Members can message people on their friends list as well as forward and reply to received messages. Each member will have their own individual Inbox, Sentbox, and Drafts folder. They will be notified of new messages by a new message count as well as email notifications if enabled. Sending of messages to multiple friends, as well as site wide messages by an administrator are also possible.
Members of BelgaumPages can be connected together by one member adding another as a “friend” and then the other member accepting the friendship request. Each member has a visible list of their friends on the site. Friends lists are browsable and members can click on each friend to see more information – or add them as their own friend. Profiles are not restricted as a whole. The ability to search for members by and piece of profile information is also included in with the built in members directory.
Groups in BelgaumPages are a gathering of members, wires posts and forum topics. In future versions members will be able to post any sort of content to groups including blog posts, images and links. Any member can create a group in BelgaumPages. They then become the group administrator giving them heightened privileges within that group. Every group includes a place for group information, and the latest group news which can be kept up to date my group administrators. Groups also include a group forum , and wire where group members can engage in discussions. These features can be selectively enabled by group creator.
The wire is a place where friends and other members can come along and post messages to a specific piece of content within Belgaumpages. The wire will work with any component within BelgaumPages, custom or official. For example, within the components explained on this page – profiles and groups use the wire component. This allows members to post on other members profiles or leave messages for other group members.
Activity streams aggregate all of your activity across BelgaumPages. All of your friends activity is also recorded so you can check what others are doing on the site. Every component can make use of the activity stream component, which means any sort of activity can be recorded. Wire posts, blogs posts, new friendships and blog comments are among the most popular activities recorded.
The blogs component will aggregate all blogs, blog posts and comments for a member across the entire installation. This means other members can easily find all blogs that a member belongs to or owns, as well as their recent posts and comments. The blogs component also adds an easy to use screen for creating new blogs built right into the theme.
Adds support for logging in via Facebook to BelgaumPages. Currently only supports logging in, but in the future support for news feed publishing and friend list integration will be added New in v2.0 !
After a lot of feedback’s from our member we finally revamped BelgaumPages logo. The earlier logo emphasized more on Blogging(pages) while the new logo emphases on the community. The new logo brings along a new refreshing look to BelgaumPages website
As per to some of the reviews we got from our members the navigation around BelgaumPages was not comfortable. We have improvised it this time and continue to work further on it. The site wide activity is split up into “Achievements”, “Blogs”, “Friends”, “Groups”, “Profile” and “Status” with an multipage listing. The admin bar remains there on top throughout the site including the member blogs making it easier to look around.
The post you are reading now is a part of BelgaumPages blog
The forums component allows groups to create and manage their own forum. Group members can post and reply to topics all from within the group’s page.
This was inspired by the Achievement system in World of Warcraft and the various user points plugins for systems such as phpBB. Achievements in BelgaumPages are self-contained goals which aim to help encourage people to keep using and contributing to your website.
BelgaumPages is now being hosted at Belgaum city itself. The site runs from an dedicated server, with an 2mbps airtel connection maintained inhouse by eth1 Network Solutions , Belgaum. A weekly backup of the site will be taken by us. We hope this will improvise the speed and performance of BelgaumPages. Lot more features coming soon … As all of you know BelgaumPages is built of Wordpress with the help of buddypress component . The site will be in sync with the future development of these open source scripts. We will be continuously working to make BelgaumPages better day by day.
